Kara Swisher Interviews Uber’s Travis Kalanick

Recode’s posting a bunch of interviews from their epic Code Conference. The next-gen company that is most fascinating to me right now is Uber, which I first began using on a trip to Los Angeles and soon became obsessed with. I’m clearly not alone – Uber is currently being valued at $18 billion in the private market – one billion dollars more than Hertz Global’s valuation on the NYSE.

What I love most about Uber – besides how well the service works – is how much it’s infuriating the entrenched taxi and limo hierarchy and forcing them to adapt or die. The consumer is the winner here, I hope it spreads out and takes over every major city in the country.
