Saturday Night Video: Kendrick Lamar

The entire rap world is awaiting the first full-length album from Kendrick Lamar, which comes out October 22nd.  His stuff has been burning up the mixtapes all year and Hip Hop has been waiting for someone to reestablish the west coast for a while now.

The Compton MC has been able to separate himself from other South Central rappers like The Game, who can sometimes dive a bit too deeply into NWA nostalgia to be considered progressive (although he did connect with Dre this spring on The Recipe). Fortunately, Lamar's flow and lyricism is entirely of this decade.

Here he is doing Swimming Pools on Jimmy Fallon this week, backed by The Roots. Enjoy!
