A Tripling of Those Unemployed for Half a Year or More
- Joshua M Brown
- February 5th, 2010
Let's not bury the lead in today's Non-Farm Payrolls abortion. Regardless of revisions and that 9.7% headline number masquerading as a stimulus-driven improvement, one statistic jumped out at me today that you won't be hearing much about: Unemployed for 27 Weeks Plus.
I illustrated this stat below:
The cheerleaders on TV and from the Administration will not be mentioning this, but the number of Americans out of work for over half a year has tripled since January of 2009. Last January's 2,689,000 vs this morning's January 2010 reading of 6,313,000.
